VinFast is set to mark its India entry with the first-ever model, while Mahindra will be unveiling a bunch of SUV concepts
July 2025 turned out to be an exciting month for car buyers in India, with interesting launches like the MG Cyberster, the facelifted Renault Triber, and the largest electric MPV, the MG M9, on our shores. As we step into August, the momentum is set to continue the same way with some exciting launches and unveils that we detailed below. This includes some mid-life updates as well as an interesting bunch of Mahindra SUV concepts. Here’s a detailed look:
Launch Date: End of August 2025
Expected Price: Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
Renault India is readying a mid-life update for the Kiger subcompact SUV. While camouflaged test mules have been spotted, the facelift is likely to bring subtle design tweaks like a revised front grille, redesigned LED DRLs, and new alloy wheel patterns. The rear could also get minor changes to the bumper and tail-lamps for a fresher appearance.
The dashboard layout is expected to remain largely unchanged. Key features expected to be carried forward include an 8-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and possibly some additions to the safety kit, such as a 360-degree camera and six airbags as standard.
The engine options are expected to be the same: a 72 PS 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol unit. Both engines are likely to continue with their respective transmission choices.
Launch Date: Mid-August 2025
Expected Price: Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom)
One of the first two products marking the Vietnamese automaker’s entry into the Indian market is the VinFast VF7. It is being brought to our shores as a completely knocked down (CKD) unit.
The electric SUV has already been showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 with a futuristic and premium design. It is confirmed to have six colour options: Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Urban Mint, Jet Black, Desat Silver, and Zenith Grey.
Inside, the VF7 gets a premium-looking black and tan dual-tone theme. Key features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated seats, as well as a 360-degree camera and ADAS for safety.
The specifications of the India-spec VF7 remain to be revealed; however, globally, the VF7 features a larger 70.8 kWh battery pack with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options.
Launch Date: August 1, 2025
Price: Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Volvo XC60 is set to get a mid-cycle update, which will feature a reworked front grille with revised design elements, new bumper contours, and updated LED lighting. It will also get new alloy wheel design and subtle tweaks to the tail-lamp cluster as well.
Inside, the updated XC60 will retain Volvo’s minimalist and clean cabin layout, possibly with a new theme for seat upholstery. Key features likely to be on board include an 11.2-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system. It is also expected to be equipped with safety features like multiple airbags, 360-degree camera, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features.
It is expected to continue with a 2-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine, producing 250PS and 350Nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Prices are likely to start from Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom).
Launch Date: August 12, 2025
Expected Price: Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom)
Mercedes has confirmed that the AMG CLE 53 Coupe will debut in India on August 12, 2025. Its design will follow Mercedes’ latest styling cues with a low-slung bonnet, panamericana grille, aggressive air intakes, and sleek LED headlights. It will also get 19-inch alloy wheels with flared wheel arches for a sporty stance. At the rear, it will feature connected LED tail lights and quad exhausts to highlight its AMG identity.
The cabin is expected to have AMG-specific touches like red contrast stitching, sports seats, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Key features expected to be a part of the package include a 11.9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, and multiple drive modes.
Under the hood, the coupe will be powered by a 449 PS 3-litre inline-six mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine. It will come paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The coupe can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds.
Debut Date: August 15, 2025
The Mahindra Vision S is one of the upcoming electric SUV concepts teased by the carmaker that is based on the Scorpio. The concept teased hints at a futuristic SUV design with a wide stance, clamshell bonnet, and C-shaped LED DRLs, likely retained in the production model to some extent.
The interior is expected to follow Mahindra’s modern approach to EV cabins with a full-width screen layout, and nothing about its key features has been teased yet.
Debut Date: August 15, 2025
The Mahindra Vision SXT seems to be similar in size and stance to the Vision S, but with a slightly different front-end design. It too gets bold styling, with a high bonnet, large wheels, and rugged detailing. Just like the others, the concept doesn’t reveal any interior or technical details yet, but the design points toward a tough, off-road-ready electric SUV.
Debut Date: August 15, 2025
The Vision T concept appears to be the next step in the evolution of Mahindra’s Thar.e which was showcased in South Africa in 2023. Its boxy shape, chunky tyres, and wide stance give it a very purposeful look. The teaser shows a flat nose with square LED lights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and tall rear bumpers. It’s expected to preview an electric version of the Thar, though Mahindra hasn’t revealed any specs or interior details yet.
Debut Date: August 15, 2025
The Vision X is another new concept teased by Mahindra recently. While Mahindra hasn’t revealed much, the teaser shows a wide-body SUV with a bold front-end and sharp lighting elements. It appears to be the sleekest of the four concepts, possibly positioned as a flagship model in the lineup. Full details about its design and purpose will be known once it's officially unveiled on August 15.
